Travel Vaccinations

Travel Clinics

We recommend you make an appointment with the Practice Nurse about eight weeks prior to travel to plan your immunisations. Please also check with your travel agent what would be required if you make a late booking as some vaccines need to be given at least 10 days prior to commencement of your holiday.

Please note that the NHS does not provide all vaccines and some attract fees and can take 4 to 6 weeks to complete the course. Please see below for further information.

https://browgate-pharmacy.co.uk/services/travel-vaccine-services-in-baildon/

Which travel vaccines are free?

The following travel vaccines are available free on the NHS at Baildon Medical Practice:

  • polio (given as a combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio jab)
  • typhoid
  • hepatitis A
  • cholera

These vaccines are free because they protect against diseases thought to represent the greatest risk to public health if they were brought into the country.

Which travel vaccines will I have to pay for?

You will have to pay for the following travel vaccinations and we do not provide these at Baildon Medical Practice:

  • hepatitis B
  • Japanese encephalitis
  • meningitis
  • rabies
  • tick-borne encephalitis
  • tuberculosis (TB)
  • yellow fever

Yellow fever vaccines are only available from designated centres.

The cost of travel vaccines that are not available on the NHS will vary, depending on the vaccine and number of doses you need.

It's worth considering this when budgeting for your trip.
